A few weeks left of summer and the promised and bonded Capital Improvement projects remain idol.
Sewer infrastructure, paving streets, creek bed improvements, water infrastructure appear to be at a precarious standstill. If the plan is to have construction in the Fall, it would appears that major portions of the Village will be affected especially traffic.
SEQR's are supposed to address environmental issues and negative impacts such as these. School busing and pedestrian traffic are going to be majorly inconvenienced. Roads being tore up after the paving season seems rather inefficient as well.
Why the delays? Bonding has been secured and or grants or loans made available. Some reports are that for water, easements are still sought, does the same apply for other construction? Are contractors available and interested?
If the Mayor, truly believes that "Ilion is open for business", then these infrastructure projects need to get started and completed so that business will be able to serve clean water, have healthy sanitation systems, and roads upon which potential customers can drive.
Sounds like this is a process of building a town rather than one of maintenance or upkeep.
Epic failures by elected officials for years, with a chance to rebuild and redevelop we must do it right, with planning and efficiency, and most importantly electing competent and capable individuals with vison and leadership; failure to do so will result in Ilion, like it's name sake " the ancient City of Troy, lost in history.

Finally, there is the proof of a political divide, as if those of who don't belong in particular party. Last I knew in this free country, once I go behind the curtain to vote, who I voted remained anonymous. Nothing in the Constitution states you must vote to only to your party affiliation. I have been voting since I was able to, I voted for the party I thought I affiliated with the most, sometimes that was an republican, sometimes a Democrat. Sometimes the choice was easy, sometimes not so much, it truly was the lesser of two evils. Chuck e Lester doesn't like the word bipartisan, just words he says.
You know the words I believe in, ones I use often, public Servant, Servant. Those that violate laws, Constitutional rights, State Rights to serve only themselves, have lost all other rights to titles. Bottom line it is respect, we all deserve respect, I could care less what party any of fellow citizens are. Truth is we all suffer the same.
". And it is to government that one goes "for a redress of grievances," to use an almost forgotten phrase of the First Amendment. But it is said that the purpose was "to cause inconvenience and annoyance." 122
*122 Since when have we Americans been expected to bow submissively to authority and speak with awe and reverence to those who represent us? The constitutional theory is that we the people are the sovereigns, the state and federal officials only our agents. We who have the final word can speak softly or angrily. We can seek to challenge and annoy, as we need not stay docile and quiet. The situation might have indicated that Colten's techniques were ill-suited to the mission he was on, that diplomacy would have been more effective. But at the constitutional level speech need not be a sedative; it can be disruptive. As we said in Terminiello v. Chicago, 337 U. S. 1, 4:
"[A] function of free speech under our system of government is to invite dispute. It may indeed best serve its high purpose when it induces a condition of unrest, creates dissatisfaction with conditions as they are, or even stirs people to anger. Speech is often provocative and challenging. It may strike at prejudices and preconceptions and have profound unsettling effects as it presses for acceptance of an idea." - Justice William O Douglas
